Microsoft Removes Windows Vista Lock Down

Currently users of Windows Vista must validate their operating operating system within 30 days of installation or computer setup. If a user does not comply Windows Vista goes into a type of reduced functionality mode. Microsoft decided to remove this Vista lock down function.

In this state Vista denies access to games, Aero Glass, Bit Locker, Ready Boost, and limits the amount of time a user can remain logged in to one hour.

In An interview with Microsoft they said “Users whose systems are identified as counterfeit will be presented with clear and recurring notices about the status of their system and how to get genuine. They won’t lose access to functionality or features, but it will be very clear to them that their copy of Window Vista is not genuine and they need to take action.”

It seems that Microsoft definitely made this move in favor of the public.
