Scientists Produce Glow In The Dark Cats

South Korean scientists have successfully cloned cats by manipulating a fluorescent protein gene. The result of this cloning made the cats glow when exposed to beams of ultraviolet light.

The ministry of science said “The ability to produce cloned cats with the manipulated genes is significant as it could be used for developing treatments for genetic diseases and for reproducing model (cloned) animals suffering from the same diseases as humans.”

Kong Il-keun, the team leader for this experiment at Gyeongsang National University also commented by saying “This technology can be applied to clone animals suffering from the same diseases as humans,” and “It will also help develop stem cell treatments, cats have some 250 kinds of genetic diseases that affect humans, too.”
